Cruce Andino. This all-day crossing of the spectacular Andean mountain lakes between Puerto Varas and Bariloche is the classic trip of the area and worth doing. It leaves out of Lake Todos los Santos in Vicente Perez Rosales National Park at 10:30 am every day. There is a stop for lunch at an island called Peulla before eventually arriving in Bariloche at around 9 pm. The operator can also pick you up at your hotel if in Puerto Varas or Bariloche. Ski & Outdoor Volcán Osorno. About 60 kilometers (37 miles) from Puerto Varas, Volcán Osorno is the setting for entertaining skiing with breathtaking vistas of the Lake District. The Ski & Outdoor Center on the volcano has two ski lifts, 11 ski trails with varied levels of difficulty, and a store that rents equipment and provides ski and snowboard lessons. The Mirador restaurant has hot lunch and coffee. Daily ski passes are 26,000 pesos. In summer, the volcano is a great spot for hiking, zip-lining, and mountain biking.
