Puerto Varas

A fast-growing resort town on the edge of Lake Llanquihue, Puerto Varas is renowned for its view of both the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes. Stunning rose arbors and Germanic-style architecture grace the many centuries-old houses and churches that dot this tranquil town. Well-situated, it’s not far to Chiloé, Puerto Montt, Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, Cochamó, and other regional hot spots. With literally dozens of big hotels and smaller B&Bs added in recent years, as well as several cafés and trendy restaurants, a modern casino, and an interesting bar scene, the town is now an honest rival to Pucón as the region's top vacation spot.
